MusicAl Limited was set up in 2003 to foster music education in schools.
MusicAl Limited originally started supplying schools with affordable musical instrument and resources to help teachers deliver a balanced music programme to students.
Towards the end of 2003 we created our first music show for schools, based on teaching students the instruments of the orchestra in a fun interactive show.
Over the next few years, we developed the Musical Instrument Making Show and the Music Style Show.
All our shows have been extremely popular.
By far the most requested show has been the Musical Instrument Making Show as it meets objectives in the Music, Science and Technology curriculums so after a break of several years working on other projects we have brought it back in 2023.
MusicAl Limited is dedicated to introducing student to music, and how instruments make their sounds.
It is our aim to spark a musical interest in the students we work with, in the hope they may pursue music as an interest or even a profession.
MusicAl was born in Helensville and lived most of his life in West Auckland before moving to Te Kauwhata.
His real name is Russell French but picked up the nickname Al when he kept singing the Paul Simon hit “Call Me Al” all the time. When he started doing school music shows people started calling him MusicAl.
MusicAl started experimenting with musical instruments when he was five years old and joined the local brass band at ten years old. He played in the Takapuna Brass Band, The Air Force Brass Band and was a member of The National Youth Band Of New Zealand.
MusicAl became a teacher when he first left school, was a deputy principal of two schools, and has been involved with education most of his life.
MusicAl is also a solo entertainer and provides music for all occasions.
MusicAl loves music and especially loves to use his passion to encourage others to play musical instruments.
